Trees and Ancient Wisdom

What does the gift of a tree offer us on the etheric level?  We are all empowered to explore that devotion of meditative, transcendental energy.  Trees hold the history and ability to transcend different levels of being.  Their roots teach us of that which exists and anchors us bellow the surface of our own conscious minds.  Their core, the heart and trunk that grows and lives with sap beneath the surface, is so very like our own skin, holding our physical being enclosed and protected as the systems of life occur within our cells.  The branches reach to the light, even as the crown chakra , is every receiving the energy of the manifest universe, the potential to extend up beyond that which we see with physical being, and recharge from Divine Source.  When I began meditating with trees, I was a child.  I would hug close to my heart the ancient being and ‘ask’ to be shown the wisdom of their sentience.  Through the communion of trees, my clairvoyance would expand.  I would see how my rhythms of heart and my energy body would align with the patience of the tree, how the act of being close, and connecting my central nervous system in some manner with the stillness of the rooted being, brought about a deeper sense of calm, of timelessness.  I learned to see that which frustrated or annoyed or was fearful, as so small, in the vastness of season change, the warmth of sun and the exhilaration of wind. When I am in communion in this way, I feel bands of gold light connecting my chakras through my spine, to the centre of the tree.  I become aware of the way my energy body is opening ‘wings’ and gathering wind, sun, light, earth, and water.  With respect, I return to ones that resonate with Peace during times of duress.  Within every living being, is a lesson a teaching and a gift.  What will we develop in ourselves and this world at large through a devotion of time and energy to connecting and learning from other sentient beings? Meditation can be a sinking in, yet over time, it also is an expanding outwards, beyond the confines of physical self, to a deep appreciating for the hearts that beat within us, and the Soul that is so very vast and connected to Light in every direction through multiple dimensions.

On  a recent trip to India, I had the privilege and honour of being present for the planting of shoots, seedlings, from the bodhi tree that Buddha sat beneath during his realization of enlightenment.  The tree, like all living beings who’s life spans recreate themselves through time, carried the energy resonance of that moment, as well as an imprint of the potential shelter or safe haven for spiritual seekers should they choose to seek in a similar way. When I placed my hands at the base of the seedling honoured as the spirit of Truth, the image of three seedlings having the potential to weave together into a gentle dome, that invited in the awakening through heart chakra and crown charka energy, of those who sat within the dome was such that I am encouraged to share my gathered ‘Tree’ perceptions in the following manner:

For those that feel drawn to exploring the healing power of trees spiritually, to learn to explore individual gifts for being rooted into this present life, yet looking through a window of Soul into past lifetimes, and the approaching cycles of light that we may concrete in our future, I offer this simple practice:

Begin the day with gentle movement before stillness, this could be a walk int he sunrise, or gentle yoga, or even sitting and practicing neck rolls, anything that is a natural extension of the ways in which we are each drawn to connect with our physical anchor of self. We acknowledge and honour the body to create a safe harbour for our Spirit.

Breathing fully, visualize oneself as a tree.  The tree may always be the same, or it may change daily.  What flow of energy, feeling, sensation or being do we light heartedly invite?  Do we notice we are weighed down by a ‘load’ of some kind?  Are we reaching outwards with giant branches? Or are we a sapling just beginning?  In the process of developing and refining self awareness, what we each gather from practicing a simple visualization can be very rich.  Having noticed if our tree had creature living around or connected to it, what do we do with our observations?  Do we journal them down, so that further reflection can unfold? Or discuss with a loved one who is open to practising the same gentle exercise?

Sometime through out the day, visit a tree. A prayer that I use is:

“Thank you Divine Source for the bounty of Nature that offers us all so many gifts.  Please allow me to connect in a healing and compassionate way with the wisdom of this forest, and this particular tree, to see, feel and hear that which can be of the greatest service to myself and the world at large, at this time.  Thank you Amen, Oma and Aho.”

It can be that we practice in a forest, or in a meditative state.  What tree holds particular significance for our energy field expansion? To connect with a tree that holds personal Power anywhere on the globe can be done in deep levels of meditation, or it can be physically connecting through a hug, a hand placed against, or leaning with ones spine alongside a local tree.  As sensitivity develops, as we each release the ego or fear based thought patterns that may block our receptive qualities, we may find that the Self connects in new or very ancient ways with the energy source of a tree. If the meditation expansion to an alternate place was chosen, make space to visit a local tree for at least 4mins of communion to anchor the experience. Thank the tree for any wisdom gathered, shared or remembered.

*This is a simple and beautiful practise that can be shared with our children and loved ones. Sometimes we may feel the natural creative manifestation to draw paint or otherwise depict ‘our’ Tree of self.  When we work with e spiritual unfolding, it is a gift we can give ourselves and the world at large to bring forth in a creative fashion, that which we have learned spiritually.

May we be like and connected with the Trees.  May we grow and receive, and grow some more, and leave the seeds of our deepest levels of Compassion, for future generations to grow alongside.

With light and respect for ancient, new or evolving cultures reverence for sacred Trees,

Kamia

Taking Your (inner) Child Outside

The earth is like a giant power source of universal consciousness and light, that connected to our physical and etheric bodies is in a constant transformation, with the ultimate goal of peaceful balance.  When people and spiritual healers talk of ‘being grounded’ what they are referring to is the strong and balanced connection between the multilayered self and the resonant energy of the planet completing a circular exchange of healthful energy.

Most people will have a memory or witness a moment with their own children in which a disgruntled, or unhappy feeling diffused and was replaced by joy during an ‘outdoor’ experience.  Perhaps this will be a memory of building industriously for hours with sticks and rocks at a small creek, or the joy of jumping over waves at the sea side.  In my case, making mud pies decorated with dandelions always made me feel happy.

What ever the moment or memory is that holds a positive tone, it is my deep heartfelt wish, that it has been recreated in new ways throughout the course of your lifetime, and that a connection and collaboration of energy exchange exists each day in your life between your Self and the earth.

For myself, I can say I had several years of delightful outdoor play.  Then came the birth of my child, and some of that play slowed down. Yet even the slower interactions based not on adrenaline seeking but on meditative communion with a sleeping baby on my chest, afforded the same balancing of energy.

I’ve heard people describe their meditative state as best achieved through the cessation of thoughts, yet for me, my most successful meditative state is when I am outside, allowing all of the jumbled thoughts, fears, ideas and creative inspiration to rush through my mind like so many galloping horses.  In their wake comes a calm, a settling of the mental dust, a greater space to receive messages from my higher self, and a deep reverence for the earth who is cradling my footsteps, brushing clean my aura and offering deep revitalizing breaths of fresh air.

However you are able to interact with the natural world today, I encourage you to create space to do so.  For some this might be driving home from work with the windows rolled all the way down.  Perhaps others it will be an outdoor exercise of muscle and ecstatic adrenaline.  For others still, a walk or sitting on a favorite bench or chair in the sunlight.  In whatever capacity you are able to interact with the outside world, you will benefit from doing so.

In the depths of winter, such as in the landscape I often reside in, when the temperatures have dropped and the world is soft and white, I like to gaze at a tree and dream of the way the roots are deep beneath the snow, gathering life from the warm earth, and envision that I too am a tree, aware of the many layers of soil and rock, running water, and lava that all exist beneath me. If you were a tree, what tree would you be?  Perhaps drawing this tree, or downloading an image, with strong roots and healthfully lifted branches will be your communion and grounding with nature today.

In honor of the fairy realm, the devas and spirits of the earth, I offer this prayer:

“Blessed trees and plants, and earth, thank you for nourishing and sustaining me.  Thank you for growing towards the light, and reminding me to stretch my awareness, and my being equally between the earth and the etheric light that surrounds us all.  Please God/dess, nourish and protect this earth even as you send angelic assistance and support to each human learning to cherish themselves, one another and the planet. Thank you Archangel Ariel for reminding me to be an advocate of all growing things, both within myself, and in the world to which I am inextricably linked.  Om and Amen.”
